Elaine Watters

Originally from County Meath, Elaine Watters brings over 20 years of experience working with young people, community groups, and programme development. She studied Business Studies, Outdoor Education and Leisure at GMIT Castlebar, combining a strong foundation in community engagement, education, and leadership.

Throughout her career, Elaine has worked across outdoor education, sustainability, wellbeing, and community-focused initiatives, developing and delivering programmes that support participation, learning, and personal development. She is passionate about creating inclusive opportunities that empower people of all ages and backgrounds to connect, learn, and thrive within their communities.

Elaine is the founder of Headford Women’s Cycling Club and Headford Menopause Café, two initiatives that have fostered connection, support, and wellbeing within the local community. Her commitment to inclusion and community participation is central to her work, and she is particularly interested in creating spaces where people feel welcome, valued, and heard.

Alongside qualifications in a variety of outdoor sports, Elaine is a qualified Sexual Wellbeing and Active Consent Trainer, bringing experience in education, facilitation, and supporting positive community relationships.

Known for her friendly, caring nature and sense of fun, Elaine believes that strong communities are built through meaningful connections and shared experiences.

Outside of work, she is a keen soccer fan who follows Galway United FC, enjoys family camping adventures, sea swimming, cycling, and spending time in the outdoors.
