Solas Family Resource Centre celebrates its 20th Birthday this year.
To mark the occasion, we had a gathering in St Fursa's Hall on Saturday June 21st 2025 with music and dancing, ice cream and face painting, speeches and photos, and teas and coffees and snacks galore.
We published a small booklet for the occasion which looks back over our history and looks at the many activities and services we provide.
You can read all about it on this page.
It is a great honour to extend my warmest congratulations to Solas Family Resource Centre as you celebrate 20 years of outstanding service to the people of Headford and the surrounding areas.
Having a Family Resource Centre like Solas in a rural community is not just important—it’s essential. It provides a safe and supportive space where individuals and families can access services, find connection, and receive help when it’s needed most. Over the past two decades, Solas has become a true cornerstone of community life.
The range of services provided by the Centre is truly impressive—ranging from counselling and mental health supports, parenting programmes, youth services, education and training, family support work, and advocacy, to Meals on Wheels, play therapy, and supports for older people. Each of these services reflects a deep commitment to inclusion and care.
I want to sincerely thank the staff, volunteers, board members, and the wider community for their dedication and tireless work in building such a vital resource. Your efforts have helped make Headford and the surrounding areas a stronger, more connected place.
Congratulations again on this significant milestone. I look forward to continuing to work with you and supporting your important work in the years ahead.
Warm regards,
Seán Canney TD
